This photograph shows a small scale farmer using a hoe to till his crop.A customer seemingly approaches to purchase some for a days meal. What I probably cannot tell is how long it will take him to clear the farm with this traditional method of farming. The size of the farm too seems small to produce an adequate quantity of foodstuff.  A person's financial ability will affect how and where they live: here the poor farmer can only afford to use the tarditional hoe to weed his crop.

  1. But of interest to note is that these farmers here practice land conservation and also labour is intensive. This has a great importance in maintaining a cleaner environment. Well, I stand to be corrected.

  2. Every year we cry about shortage of food and during drought many people die of hunger. But i think if the small scale farmer like the one in the picture is empowered to produce his own enough food hunger will be history in most countries.

  3. This reminds me about the song which is currently recalled by the Government leaders in our country as they have termed it "KILIMO KWANZA" which means prioritizing agriculture to archive food security. Yet there are no enough infrastructures to fulfill this. Can we say the leaders are talking what they are not walking?
